Compulsory Insurance Occupational Accident

The Occupational Accident Insurance is concluded under the Regulation for compulsory insurance of workers and employees against the risk “occupational accident”.

Subject matter
The employers compulsorily insure their employees and workers who do work during which there is danger for their life and health.

Risks covered

  • death of the Policyholder resulting from accident at work
  • permanent disability resulting from accident at work
  • temporary disability resulting from accident at work

Insurance premium
The Occupational Accident Insurance is concluded at the expense of the employer. The insured sum is based on the gross monthly salary of the insured workers and employees at the moment of the conclusion of the insurance policy.

In accordance with the Regulation for compulsory insurance of workers and employees against the risk “occupational accident” the insured sum:

  • for the risks of death and permanent disability resulting from accident at work is in the amount of 7 (seven) annual gross (84 monthly) salaries of the worker or employee
  • for the risk “temporary disability” is in the amount of 1 (one) monthly salary

Territorial validity
The insurance is valid for events that occurred on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and are classified as “occupational accidents” under the Regulation on establishment, investigation, registration and reporting of occupational accidents.

Period of the insurance
The period of the insurance cannot be less than 1 month and longer than 1 year.
